Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg suffered a blow ahead of the Champions League second round clash with Benfica on Monday as their Portuguese international midfielder Miguel Danny ruptured knee cruciate ligaments, local media reported.
The Sport Express daily said the 28-year-old midfielder suffered the injury during Sunday's training session at their close season base in Florence, Italy.
The team doctor said Danny would miss at least two months but such serious injuries usually see players miss six months.
The report also said Zenit's Belgian full back Nicolas Lombaerts suffered a knee injury during their friendly match with Italian Serie A club Cesena on Monday.
