Australian Rebecca Flood had a bogey-free round to be one of a remarkable eight players tied for the lead after the opening round of the Ladies Golf Open in Austria.

She was joined on five under par by England's Melissa Reid, Becky Brewerton of Wales, France's Caroline Afonso, Italian Giulia Sergas, German Caroline Masson, Kaisa Ruuttila of Finland and Swedish player Louise Larsson.

Larsson was the last of the eight to complete her round and at one stage had been six under, but she made bogeys on 13 and 14 before recovering with a birdie at the par-five closing hole to complete a 67.

Reid and Brewerton each dropped just a single shot - Reid at the short 10th, her first hole, and Brewerton on the par-four 17th - as they moved into contention.

At four-under were England's Holly Aitchison, American Sara Brown and Thailand's Nontaya Srisawang.

Laura Davies was two shots off the pace on 69 at the Fohrenwald club in Wiener Neustadt.

Davies, 47, is defending her crown this week and also won the title in 2007 and 2008, as well as losing a play-off in 2009.
