Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo won Sunday's San Marino Grand Prix to tighten his grip on the MotoGP world championship.
Fellow Spaniard and nearest challenger Dani Pedrosa failed to complete the first lap, his Honda knocked off the Misano circuit by compatriot Hector Barbera.
Pedrosa had to start from the rear of the grid after a problem during an extended preparation following a false start.
Lorenzo, starting the day with a 13-point lead in the championship, extended that to 38 points while the injured Casey Stoner remained third with five rounds remaining.
Second in the race was Valentino Rossi after a huge improvement to his Ducati and Honda's Spanish rider Alvaro Bautista was third.
