Australia will enter the world netball championship in Singapore confident of claiming back-to-back titles.

The Australians rocked hosts New Zealand at the last worlds in 2003, however the Silver Ferns have since won two Commonwealth Games gold medals - in Melbourne in 2006 and Delhi in 2010 - both times relegating the Diamonds to silver.

With the tournament getting underway in Singapore on Sunday afternoon, Australia, who will play their first pool match against Samoa on Monday, believe they're on track to again regain top spot.

"I'm very pleased so far, there's been no injuries and I think the girls are working well," national coach Norma Plummer told AAP.

"Our main focus has been getting the combinations together because the players have come from five different teams so to be able to get that connection has been the main focus at this point.

"I'm happy with how things are going."

After Samoa, the Diamonds, led by new skipper Natalie von Bertouch face two further easy pool games, against Sri Lanka and Northern Ireland.

Their first big challenge isn't expected to come until a likely semi-final against the athletic Jamaican side.

The opening ceremony of the world championship will be held at Singapore's Indoor Stadium on Sunday afternoon, followed by one match with the host country up against Botswana.
