New West Coast Fever coach Norma Plummer has landed her first major signing since moving to Perth, securing the services of netball sharpshooter Catherine Cox for the next two years in the trans-Tasman championship.
Cox, the Diamonds' vice-captain, starred during Australia's recent world championship triumph in Singapore, turning back the clock as she impressed at goal attack as well as her usual shooting position.
However, she was on the outer at NSW after being told by incoming coach Lisa Beehag she would no longer skipper the team after four years in the job.
The Melbourne Vixens were keen to lure the 92-Test veteran their way.
But Plummer, who spent almost nine years as Australia's head coach before quitting to link up with the Fever, used her strong personal ties with Cox to convince the 35-year-old to join her in Perth.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to come to West Coast Fever and play under Norma Plummer again," Cox said.
"We've had a lot of success together over the course of my career and I feel very confident there will be more to come.
"The Fever has assembled a young, talent-laden squad with huge potential ... I am looking forward to developing alongside the girls over the next two years.
"This move, whilst very difficult to come to, has given me a new lease of life. At this stage of my career, it is nice to feel so excited about what's around the corner."
With rising star Caitlin Bassett also on her list, Plummer said she was excited to secure Cox.
"Cath Cox is a champion and will bring so much experience to the shooting circle for Fever," Plummer said.
"Her connection with Caitlin Bassett was great over such a short time with the Diamonds.
"I know both will appreciate the opportunity to build on that relationship week in, week out."
Cox will join the rest of the West Coast Fever squad for the start of training in January.
Plummer has also signed impressive English defender Eboni Beckford-Chambers for the coming season.
The Fever finished ninth out of 10 teams last season, winning just three of 13 games.
But with Plummer's tactical nous and ability to lure the stars of the game her way, big things are expected of the Fever next season.
