South Australian Khao Watts has joined a growing list of Australian players turning out for New Zealand teams in the trans-Tasman netball championship.

The 23-year-old midcourter claimed the import spot with Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic for next season, with Caitlin Thwaites (Central Pulse) and Demelza McCloud (Southern Steel) also playing for Kiwi teams.

She will replace another Australian, defender Peta Scholz, who is moving back to Adelaide and recommended her for the position.

The star-filled Magic, with Silver Ferns Laura Langman, Casey Williams and Irene van Dyk in the line-up, are the best performed New Zealand team, finishing second behind Queensland in this year's competition.

Watts travelled to Hamilton for a successful trial, impressing coach Noeline Taurua.

The 2012 ANZ Championship gets underway at the end of March.
