In a complete shock in AFL coaching circles Fremantle coach Mark Harvey has been sacked as coach by the Fremantle Dockers after four full seasons in the job after taking over from Chris Connolly in Round 16 2007.
Fremantle officials are planning a press conference tomorrow morning (Perth time) and are likely to name a new coach along with the official reasoning for ending Mark Harvey’s tenure a year before his contract expired.
Rumors are abound that Harvey had a disagreement with medical staff and it appears to have been serious enough for Harvey to lose his position as coach.
Rodney Eade was picked as the frontrunner for the coaching position with the Dockers’ seemingly looking for an experienced coach with a proven track record. Reports say that Eade was in Perth a few days ago but it is unknown whether it was in relation to a coaching position in WA.
However, Eade’s manager Phil Mullen has denied this, saying Eade has not spoken to the Fremantle club.
Late news to hand is that Ross Lyon has quit St Kilda and will be sensationally announced as the new Dockers coach.
